My friend got her license to be an independent contractor and she hired me as her helper, she's very professional and paid me by using her business check every month last year but she never deducted anything for any kind of taxes. Will she need to pay taxes for medicare and ss and what form will I get from her for tax puposses ?
Thank you,
Janet

Hi, Jguz!

Since your question has so much to do with taxes, I've moved it to this forum topic area where it will be more likely to be noticed and addressed by our Tax Experts.

Thanks!

Janet:

If she is an independent contractor, then, by definition, so are you.

You will get 1099-misc.
1099-misc income: You are self employed or independent contractor. You must file your tax return if yourself employed income is $400 or more. You will report your income and business related expenses on schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040). Then you put net income (or loss) on line 12 of Form 1040. This income is subject to SE tax at 15.3% (this is shown on line 57 of Form 1040).
