My husband and I just got married last week. He is on supervised probation. He lives in CO and I live just over the WY border about 45 minutes away. He is in the process of applying for an interstate compact to get his probation transferred to WY since he just was offered a job here. He got a pass for the wedding, got a pass for the job interview... but had to come up here today to get and sign the job offer paper. His PO was not available when he called to get a pass and as luck would have it he was pulled over and given a warning for a broken windshield. It was not a written warning, but the sheriff took his drivers license.

Does a PO get a notice when a driver's license is run through a Sheriff's system?

Should he tell his probation officer that he had a police contact and what are the likely consequences?

If he does not tell his PO that is a violation. He should never have left the state regardless of what the reason. Doing so has immediately violated him. And now not telling his PO about the pull over and the ticket is violation #2. He just may have messed up his probation. He needs to immediately contact the PO and speak to him about this.
