I filled out my W4 for married with higher single rate, in 2008. They did not take out the correct amout of deductions. My employer does not give me a check stub or time sheet with any deductions showing what is taken out, so there fore I did not know until the end of the year. I asked several times for them to write it on my check. But they still did not. When I received my W2 I questioned him and he said I had claimed married. But I had him pull out the W4 and it saw as I said Married with higher single rate. Can I do anything since he did not do as asked?

Fire the bookkeepper ? ( OK it was a joke )
The W4 is for estimation and not a reliable document. Are you owing taxes because of what happened ? Why aren't you getting anything on a payday by payday basis showing what's going on with your check ?

All good points.
However, I do not think the employer has any legal obligation to show the withholdings on a check stub, though he DOES have to show what was withheld if the employee asks for that information.
Off-hand, I doubt if you have any legal recourse. You may suggest that the employer produce a printout that shows what was withheld so the employees can track that information.
