I don't think there are interested in anyone's furniture, vehicle, etc. That will not even pay their costs to initiate this sort of action. They are more interested in garnishing your bank account to retrieve a debt. They are allowed to do that after receiving a judgment against you. I suggest you stop having your benefits automatically deposited in the bank and have everything mailed to you at your home. Any money in the bank, from whatever source, can be taken.

It is either your own personal debit, or it isn't. Do you have proof that it isn't your debt ? They will have proof if they have your signed contract on a loan, etc. that was defaulted on.

Most of the time, they will not bother trying to seize your personal property because the process is complicated and can get expensive.

They can place a lien on anything that has your name on it. I'm not sure what you mean by "I owned a house that's upside down." Do you still own the house?

Also, what were you served exactly? Was it paperwork stating that you were being sued? Or were you aware of a pending lawsuit and just didn't show up, thereby resulting in a default judgment being placed against you?
