I have known her for 4 years and I know her parents and I'm a friend with her brother.

I asked her out about two months ago. She said yes then three days later she said no because I have been friend with so long and it was awkward.

So where did I go wrong? And can I still be her boyfriend? Or is pursuing that a lost cause

I don't think you went wrong anywhere... This is very plain and simple.

Let's review to see that I understood you correctly:

1. you asked her out, she said yes
2. a few days later, she says no, because she've thought about it and only wants to be friends.

The way you describe it, it sounds as if she didn't want to risk your 4-year old friendship by dating you.

So you honestly did nothing wrong, you took a risk and got shot down. It happens. You still have her as a friend though.

So... whether she has a boyfriend is besides the point.

What do you mean by... can I still be her boyfriend? Do you mean like a sweetheart type of boyfriend? If yes... than the answer is NO... if you mean like her friend who is a boy.. than yes. You can still be friends, if the both for you choose to.

But you have to put dating her out of your mind and respect her answer.

Best of luck

She would just rather keep you as a friend than a boyfriend- there's nothing wrong, it's just her personal preference.
