I am currently on probation in Michigan. I was given permission by my Judge and probation department to transfer to California to start my new job. I was told by Michigan probation to go ahead to California and they would put my transfer through every month until it was accepted. Now, Michigan is saying I have to come back because they did my paper work wrong and California has denied my transfer. I have already started my job and my wife also has a very good job making almost $15.00 per hour. Both of or bosses have said that if we leave we are going to be terminated. We moved our entire lives out here thinking this would be it, only to be threatened and harassed by Michigan probation. They said that if I'm not back by a certain date, I would be violated and possibly arrested. My judge refused to sign the first warrant they tried to issue. I have paid off all of my fines and court cost. The only thing keeping me on probation is the restitution that is owed to the insurance company that compensated the plaintiff for their losses. I was told by an attorney that the insurance company cannot use the court as a collection agency, and should file a civil suit against me instead. I need help BAD!! What should I do? We don't have anywhere to live, nor do we have jobs if we go back to Michigan. HEELP!!

You should not have left Michigan until California had officially taken over your probation. The onus is on you now to go back to Michigan and straighten this out - job or no job. Which is going to be a worse scenerio for you? Having no job or sitting in jail or having a job and looking over your shoulder every minute waiting for the police to arrest you on the warrant that never expires for the VOP? It's your choice here to make.
