When I was a kid my mom used to buy me and my sisters scratch off tickets every now and then for the fun of it. We never won more than five dollars on them, and usually I think we just turned them in at the store we got them from for the money. But is that what you do if you won like, a thousand dollars on one of those things?
I'm just wondering where you would need to go, if anyone knows.

Claim details are normally printed on the reverse of the card.
There is a limit to the amount you can claim from the store, over that you need to contact the card issuers office.

Over a certain amount ( each state is different) you have to claim it from the lottery office, and they issue you a 1099 at the end of the year for your earnings.

Beyond that, you report any winnings as other non reported income.
