Hey everyone,

First I am going to note that I was pregnant last year, Jan-March, but sadly miscarried.

Now, here I am again in January. Okay, so I know that getting pregnant at the end of your period is rare and unlikely, but still possible. I think I may have gotten pregnant during the last 2 days of my period or sometime within the first 4 days following my period.

I have noticed some of the pregnancy symptoms that I had with my first pregnancy last year. And even some that I did not have during my first pregnancy.

My question, though, is if I did conceive around the time stated above, would I be able to take a Home Pregnancy Test (HPT) sooner than the time of my next expected period?

All help is greatly appreciated!

Depending on the brand of hpt, some will pick up a positive result about 10 dpo... but the accuracy of the tests improve the closer you are to when your next period is due.

This is why it is generally suggested to wait until you are actually late for a period. Otherwise it can be that you get a negative on an early test, but are still pregnant

If you feel you might be, test. If negative, you'll have to wait a bit longer, test again, or wait and see what happens when your period would be due. Fingers crossed for you!

Thank you. I think I am going to go have a blood test done. That way if I am pregnant they can get me on all my vitamins and things sooner. So far on hpts I have had two negs, then a very faint positive. Those were all with the same tests. Then I bought a different test and it was negative.

If you think you are pregnant, you should be taking prenatal vitamins already to prevent neural tube defects. You can buy them over the counter at your local drug store.

Yeah, I bought the over the counter ones when I bought my pregnancy test. Last year the doctor prescribed me on even though I was taking over the counter ones.
