Trying to remember the name of a movie I saw on TV many years ago.

It's a black and white movie with a lead character who sings all his life in a barbershop quartet. I thought his name was Ben Halperin but have searched the net with no luck using that name. Only other significant part I remember is the movie features a beautiful rendition of the song, "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen"

This movie is NOT For the Love of Mary.

I can't seem to find it- I did find that song in these movies though Thomas Payne Westendorf (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2101361/)

Trying to remember more detail but it's fuzzy. There are several scenes with the barbershop quartet, the movie spans several decades and ends up portraying the lead character (Ben? ) as an old man. The plot involves a lost love (might be Kathleen)

Any other help out there? Thanks Sweetpea.

The movie is also set in smalltown, USA. I guessing the forties but may be a decade one way or the other.
