Hi there I was wondering if anyone can help me I've had a summons to go to court for not paying my TV licence for a couple of months, I'm really worried as I've never had anything like this happen before as I was reading the letter from the TV licence I read that the guy said that I didn't let him into my property which he never asked to do when he came to the door but he's also put down that the telly was working and so was the dvd player, Can I say to the court that he has put down false information,
I know I'm in wrong but I had so much other stuff my partner losing his job and having to sort out are rent and other bills,
Can anyone help

Are you in Great Britain or the US?
Inability to pay is not a legal reason not to pay - how did the lies change the situation? I understand the claim that you wouldn't let someone onto your property, which is untrue; how does this affect the situation? Was someone trying to disconnect your service and you denied him access?

I'm in great britain no the man came to the door to fill out a form for me to sign he did not come into my property to see my telly if it was working or not , when I signed the form the only bit that was on the form was my name dob and my national insurance number he added the rest when he went away

Television licences (http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_world/communications/television_licences.htm)
I don't normally come to these threads, but I found this site that might help answer the question.
It applies only to the U.K.
