My friend has severe stomach pain and hard dark red stools when he has a BM. I am very concerned that it might be colon cancer, but he does not want to see a doctor. Any ideas on what the problem is?

It could be all sorts of things, and it will not go away on its own. He must see a doctor!

Yes, it could be any number of things. Best to not be using an online site such as this to make guesses. No one here or on any other site can make a diagnosis. That's needs to be done by a doctor who can visit with him and examine him in person.

Are you the only one working with him about seeing a doctor? It sounds like both you and he could use a support system of people to encourage him to see a doctor. Sometimes it takes more than one person to do the convincing...

If it were me having those kind of symptoms, I would be going to the doctor right away. I wouldn't want to do that, but I realize that I had to. I would also ask a couple of friends to come along for support.
