I am 34 years old have been suffering from acne for the past 15 years. Earlier my acne marks used to go away easily but now my face is full of them and my skin has also become patchy. I am looking for a product which would help me get rid of pigmentation without causing breakouts.

Have you ever tried Retin A ?
It's great for acne/acne marks and it helps even the complexion.

Welcome Denise Rashmi. You'll have to often check the labels of the products (lighteners and all skin products) and see what oils such as natural light oils such as jojoba, almond oil, olive oil or if it contains a heavier oil such as castor oil. They can may still clog the pores on the face, but are better than unnatural oils and others.

If they say "hydrogenated oil" or "partially hydrogenated oil" then they are worse than oils that are not hydrogenated and have been chemically altered and can give you acne and over time with continuous use will age the skin.

Or if it contains man-made crude oil such as mineral oil, pretroleum, petrolatum which is worse and cheapest stuff and should avoid applying it to the skin and hair.

Products that contains silicones may give a nice, glossy feel and lovely sheen appearance. But they sit on top of the skin and can not be absorbed, thus may cause the pores to clog = acne outbreaks.

For acne prone skin, it is best to try and seek out a good safe lightener that is in gel form and not in crème form. This is best because it has a less chance of blocking pores. Whether you use a creme/lotion product or a gel-based product, include an effective exfolator such as papaya &/or kojic soap, retin a (tretinoin, acid form of vitamin A), products containing AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) or AHA in it's raw form such as lactic, glycolic, malic, citric, and tataric acid. Or you can use authentic black soap which ill gently exfoliate the skin. Or using effective acne products that contains Benzoyl Peroxide to help cleanse and keep the pores clean.

Hello and welcome! I had the same problem. I have oily skin and I always had
Acne and marks used to go away. But when I started using lightening creams... omg:eek:!now every time I start a new product I do it in combo with retin a.I think it is drying my skin so I don't have acne anymore;).But I don't use retin a more than a month continuously cause it is drying my scalp next to the forehead I don't like this...

Try yllume treatment range Yllume | 100 years of skincare secrets (http://www.yllume.co.uk) its sorted my friends spotty scared skin out like magic, or try Retin A but the only thing with it is that it could thin out your skin and make it dry which at 34 years of age might not be desirable.. you could possibly mix it with a moisturising oil that doesn't clog the pores like apricot kernal, but my bets on the yllume.

Ah you could also try mixing apricot kernal oil, Salicylic Acid powder (a tiny bit) and vitamin C powder, aloe vera gel, form a paste and apply to you skin, won't be as effective as the professional products, but will get you somewhere..

Salicylic acid is amazing! Any cream that contains it will help fight acne and you can also buy SA peels :)
