STOP using the heater and call for professional ON SITE service NOW. The life you save may be your own.

First of all you need to find out exactly why and where the gas smell is coming form. I cannot smell the gas from here and trace it down for you and unless the unit’s gas valve stuck open it will be hard to tell.

A unit not running because a part is defective is one thing but a unit producing a raw gas smell that takes the situation to another higher level.

Unless you have knowledge of this unit and the HVAC trade I recommend you take my warning in the first post seriously. GAS is nothing to play around with and trying to fix it without knowledge of the HVAC biz is just plain bad news. Times might be tight and all but to put yourself and your customers in a compromised situation is just plain foolish. Could be someone else here will try and help you but I am very aware of the risks involved and choose not to participate in your venture. Sorry but I have a bad vibe on this one. Good luck
