I have a Goodman gas furnace model #GMP050-3 Rev B that was put in service in 2002. The blower fan motor has stopped working and I need help troubleshooting it. It was working fine until a week ago when I noticed an electrical burning smell in the area it services. Now, when the thermostat calls for heat, the exhaust blower comes on, the ignitor heats up, the gas valve opens and the burners ignite properly but the blower fan never comes on so the unit shuts down after a minute or so. The system kept running this cycle so I shut it down.
Switching the fan switch to "on" from "auto" does not get the blower fan on. I tried switching the heat/cool switch to "off" and the fan switch to "on" while the blower access door was off and the safety switch was held in so I could see and hear the control board. There is an audible "click" noise, like a relay switching but the motor does not start. The fan cage spins freely when turned by hand.
What should I check next? Thank you.
