Hello. Im having trouble hooking up some Insignia 5.1 surround sound speakers to my computer. I can't seem to get them right. When I click the option "test speakers" some sounds come out of the wrong speakers (sounds that are supposed to be coming out of front right and front left speakers are coming out of the rear speakers. Im pretty sure I've hooked them up correctly to the back of the subwoofer (which also serves as the receiver) because they are colored and all you have to do is match them up. However, there are three other input cords that are to be plugged into my laptop that are colored Black, Green, and Orange. There are three input areas on the right side of my laptop right by each other but I'm not sure which order to put them in considering they are not colored. I have a Dell Studio 17 if that helps. Thanks guys.

Try switching the black and green I believe... or the orange and green. Can't remember which, it's been a while since I've used analog 5.1. Even if the colors don't match up, that should switch it so the sounds come from the correct speakers.

EDIT: Yeah, I looked it up quick. It's the green and black you need to switch. The orange is for your center and sub. Green should be your fronts. And the black should be your surrounds.

It still won't work I don't know what the problem is. There is a picture of a set of headphones on the first 2 inputs and a microphone picture on the back input located on the side of my laptop.

Oh, then you're laptop isn't capable of surround sound. You just have 2 headphone outputs. What's the specific model of the laptop so that I may confirm this?
