MY landlord just installed a brand new faucet in my kitchen. Right away, it started making a very loud knocking sound when turned on. He thought it was because we are using a Britta filter. But, it still makes the sound when we took the filter off. The sound goes away when we use the sprayer. I would like to try to fix this problem myself, because it will take a while for the landlord to come back.

Sounds like the spray diverter (located directly under the fuacet spout) may have some gunk in it. Before tearing into the fuacet, just turn hot and cold on and push and release the spray button very quickly over and over again to try and clear the junk out.
