My Canon Pixma MP160 printer won't let me turn off COLOR ink to use just the BLACK ink for a project. I punch BLACK on the printer and the COLOR button lights up but the BLACK button doesn't light up, though when I print a page that has black and color, the black stuff gets printed along with the color stuff.
Thanks for any and all replies on how to turn off Color Ink temporarily.

You need to make the selection when you actually print out your document in the print menu. Go to preferences and select black ink only then use the "apply" selection to save the setting. If you want to then change back to color and B&W use the same menu to make the selection again in the preferences menu. I use this setting on B&W all the time so I don't run out of color ink too fast.

You're welcome. You just need to remember that the color and B&W is controlled by the preferences section.
