Either one is unsanitary.

Hi, ashleyxox1!

Unsanitary piercings can lead to a person getting keloids.

Keloids Unsanitary Piercing - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=Keloids+Unsanitary+Piercing&aq=f&oq=&aqi=)

If you're going to have any kind of piercing done, please make sure that it's done by a reputable, licensed and experienced individual.

Thanks!

There are advantages to having it done with either... I had mine done with a gun and it hasn't yet fully healed but I've had no infections or anything. Needles apparently heal quicker and cause less damage to the ear. Whichever you choose make sure the place has the correct cleaning facilities etc, and make sure whoever does it washes their hands, wears gloves and is properly licensed. Some places offer both so have a chat to them about which they would recommend. Good luck :)

Needle!!
Not only is it safer, and more sanitary but it heals a lot quicker because most of the time a gun damages the skin (and cartilage) also a needle hurts less it just slides right through instead of a big bang and jolt of a gun!
