I live in Jacksonville FL. I planted a peach tree(white flesh-not exactly sure of name) that I planted in 2000. The tree bore a large crop in 2003 and a much smaller one in 2004. Since then, the tree has had no fruit:( I have pruned the tree to the required bowl shape and also so it does not get too tall. It does produce small muted flowers every year that produce a few small fruits(marble-size) that fall off. I need help determing what I can do to produce fruit. Some of the smaller branches do have a black residue on it that I can vigorously rub off. The tree is very healthy in the summer. The leaves are currently all off the tree as it is in a dormant state. Please help.

That's about right for me too for a nectarine tree. I've discovered that the heavy rains in the spring knock off nearly all of the fruit.
Use of an oil dormant spray and an sulfur spray in the spring has helped with the leaf curl and the spots on the leaves.
The rain keeps knocking the fruit off the tree and they are all gone by the time the season is over.
I think my general problem is not enough sun.
I was plagued by leaf curl, but I got that under control.
