My shower on the 2nd floor never heats up sufficiently. I have scalding hot water in the kitchen sink on the 1st floor. I completely removed the plastic control for limiting the heat located directly behind the shower handle with no increase in temperature. The soaking tub directly next to the shower is slightly warmer. Any suggestions on how to increase the temperature?

Hi Skgraziano:

If you have removed the temperature limiting device then there really isn't much else that you can do. In some shower valves that mix hot and cold together there are some that will always mix some cold with the hot no matter how far you open the valve to hot and that will have a tendency to keep the hot water temperature lower at the valve than at other valves.

For fun, you might purchase a water themometer (see image... available at home depot) and take some temperature readings at the kitchen sink, the soaking tub and at the shower valve in full open... see what the differences are. I'm beting the temperatures won't be too far off. Let me know what you find... O.K.?
