We just found out we have hpv, the kind that causes genital warts. We have stopped having sex because we are afraid we will keep spreading each other warts. From what I understood, once you are infected you cannot be reinfected. I understand the warts can spread, but is the spreading caused by my own warts just spreading, or by contacting more from contact with someone else's warts, in this case my monogamous partner. Will I grow more warts if I have sex with him?

I just want to know if this stuff ping pongs.

You cannot get reinfected. You cannot pass the same virus back and forth. Once you have it, you have it. If the wars spread it is because of your body and the way it handles the virus and nothing more. You can't get more warts from having sex with your partner. Once you do test positive for HPV you should have a pap test every six months. In a majority of cases, your body can clear HPV within a 2 year time frame. Hope this helps.
