Get a swanstone retrofit pan so you don't have to move you drain.
Home Depot can order one for you. Just give them the model number.
I would go with larger than 30x60. Swanstone has 32x60.
swanstone retrofit shower base - Google Product Search (http://www.google.com/products?sourceid=navclient&rlz=1T4TSHB_enUS265US265&q=swanstone+retrofit+shower+base&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=vdEzS8u3KNHBngfDpdz6CA&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCAQrQQwAA)
I got a white 32x60 for $155 from home depot.
You really don't want less than 32" wide because of elbow room.I don't have to worry about leaks in the pan and I did all this work by myself. I also made a curb from a 2x4 and tiled it to attach the shower doors to and also give me a little more elbow room.

I've reported this post to get moved to the plumbing forum. Please post back, too, if it's a center drain or an offset drain, and if it's abs or pvc and what your existing dwv system comprises. Also, for a shower, it is supposed to be 2" drain all the way and including the connection to the stack. Check to make sure you have 2" id and not 1.5" as tubs only require 1.5". Worst case, you will be able to access from below, but should be able to gain access for whatever you need through the floor of the bathroom. I'm not of any use until it comes to the tile part. :)
Patty, the Tileredi pan is a preformed pan with an integral drain and upturned wall section and curb that comes with Laticrete latipoxy310 for direct installation of tile to the pan surface.

I know it's a ready tile pan. I was just trying to save him some time and trouble.
I had to change out my drain to 2" but thankfully the p-trap was for a 2" drain. Still had to dig down about 18" though.
