I am painting a stripe on the wall. I just painted the walls. How long do I have to wait to put painters tape on wall for the stripe without paint coming off on tape?

Look at the drying time on the paint can. Remember temperature and humidity can affect it.

I've had good luck using Post-it tape for masking.

Use fans to expedite the drying process. Heat helps.

There are many variables involved with paint. Type, humidity, temperature.

I wouldn't rush it if I were you.

Make sure it is tack free, plus some.

Hopefully a professional will jump in here.

Dry and cured are 2 different things. The paint may feel dry after a few hours but don't apply tape until cured as explained above.
