Everybody wants more money. Few are willing to blatently rip folks off. Most want to simply charge for their services.

You didn't say whether it is inner or outer but the outer rarely gets bent.
How long to replace one inner tie rod?
A little under an hour flat rate would be appropriate. Plus the alignment will need reset... probably needs all four corners adjusted.

Bent? Honestly, did you or someone else hit something? Of maybe someone hit you while parked. Either way, you need to address this repair or you may find your tires wear more quickly.

Here's how to professionally install an outer tie-rod end:

If you have the proper tools, a do-it-yourselfer can change an outer tie-rod end in 45 minutes.
