My son was recently arrested and is now in jail. One of the Offense Descriptions is "Application to Accelerate" which has a Surety Bond of $25,000. He had a deferred sentence for a previous crime. He is now facing charges for offenses done after his deferred sentence was given. When I looked up his offenses one of them was this application to accelerate.

Sorry to hear about your son... always hardest on Mom. If we could only get young men to understand that... huh?
Here is how I found it described on another site:
An application of acceleration is usually a document presented to the court because a person has violated probation and it asks that their sentence be accelerated which basically means going to jail...
I am not familiar with court law, but found this and thought I would present it to you. Please wait for one of the law experts to come by and check my answer for accuracy... OK? It could be awhile until they pop in so be sure to check back every couple hours or so to get the best answer.
Good luck on this!

I'm not positive, but I believe that an application to accelerate is an attempt to move up or eliminate the deferred sentence so that he has to start the sentence immediately. Basically, it's done with repeat offenders who are having no success in remaining free of crimes.
