Soooooo. I'm going on vacation over holiday break. And I'm going to be around lots of family, including my extended family, and there is going to be a LOT of sun. That is going to be UNAVOIDABLE. And a LOT of heat. That is going to be UNAVOIDABLE. I believe I'm going to keep up with my face and neck while I'm on vacation. But I'm just starting to see results with the 55H+ Serum on my arms. I'm thinking maybe I should just stop. Until I get back from vacation. Then start again. Instead of wasting it. Since I think my arms are going to get tan anyway. And I don't want people asking me why I'm sitting around with a serum all over my body. Because whenever I apply my creams or serums or glycerin, I always let it sit on my skin because I feel it's more potent that way. It might not make a difference? But I think it does. Or it could just be in my head. Lol. Oh and Golden Girl. This new pic of Sade at and album release party just surfaced on the internet recently, and I thought of you and figured you'd enjoy it. Lol. So for your viewing pleasure:http://bossip.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/sade-makes-a-surprise-appearance-at-the-new-york-listening-party-for-her-new-studio-album.jpg?w=450

Sometimes you just can't avoid the sun.
I'd say use Vitamin C and a good sunblock, I don't like set backs but at least maintain what you have now so when you do start lightening again you won't be so far behind.

Lol... my viewing pleasure? yeah its like looking into a mirror... accept I'm a few shades darker.. lol, joking.

But to answer your question, you can either wear long sleeves to cover your arms along with potent sunblock high in spf (60-100, neutrogena is good). Along with hats that offer shade (gardener's hat, straw hat, etc.), and skin lighteners.

Or you can just stick with the sunblock and work on reversing any sun tanning with lactic peels/retin-a and skin lighteners.

I know this sounds horrible and selfish... But I really hope we don't go. I love my family in Sierra Leone... But whenever I'm there it is NOT a vacation for me. Because everyone is always in my face because they never really get to see me. And they're constantly asking me questions about what the states are like. And the heat is overwhelming and the sun is too much and the smog is not fun. I just really hope we don't go. I REALLY wanted to do a RA peel during the break. So I can stay in the house while I'm peeling. UGH.

OMG. I feel you.. Homeland visits are never vacations :p.. LOL.. and usually you end up having to spend money cause no one imagines you can be poor in the USA... even in my case where my fam, is is Puerto rico and PR is like a US state.. but it's the same.. and I have family in Dominican republic too... I also have lots of close family friends in sierra Leone.. so even though I haven't been there yet, I know the feeling... and as for sun... well.. sunblock but you can't avoid it.. just wear long sleeve flowing garments.. Dare I say grab some Muslim gear... abayas, and hijabs... or at least kaftans with sleevs and hats... it's not really all that hot to wear long sleeves in hot weather.. I was tempted in summer to wear gloves when driving because my driver's side tans so dark.. and my hands from being in exposed to the sun while driving...

Oh this sounds so sad really.:(
I want to have lighter skin but I certainly don't want to be trapped by it to the point where I don't want to go outside or go on vacation! That's the time to let loose and have some fun!

Oh my goooodnesssss. Like you COMPLETELY understand. Lol. They NEVER imagine an "American" to ever not have enough money. So they're always asking you for this and that and that and this. And you want to be nice. But at the end of the day you have to worry about yourself too because if you don't... Then you're left with NOTHING. And hahahahaha cop some Muslim gear? That's a tad extreme! But I WILL be wearing long sleeved flowing garments. GOOD call. And omg. I hate it when my drivers side tans. So whenever I'm going out with my friends I always try and get them to drive. Lmfao. Or I'll wrape a scarf around my arm. My hands for some reason are always light (except my knuckles... UGH). But yes. This is NOT going to be a vacation. Because I just do NOT want to get dark. UGH.

I know this may sound sad to you. But... I think that when you decide that you want to lighten your skin. And you're serious about it. IT'S A COMMITMENT. And it's one that I'm keeping. If that means sitting still for hours while sticky glycerin is smeared all over my body, or if that means constantly wearing long sleeves, or if that means staying inside the house during backyard cookouts, if that means wearing long sleeves when I'm on vacation and thinking about ways to avoid the sun. I don't care. It's a commitment that I've made. And all I know is that my arms and legs need to match my chest, neck, face, and hands by pageant time. It's sad. But. People just love light skinned people these days. So if I have to be one. I'll do what it takes. It's funny. Because the white contestants are getting their spray on tans or baking in the sun. And I'm sitting in glycerin and avoiding the damn sun. Oh well. The ironies of life right?

It's a commitment I intend to keep too but I don't believe in putting my skin in a self-imposed prison! I'm not going to let lighter skin limit me, it certainly didn't limit me when I was darker.

I plan to go on exotic vacations, water skiing. Parasailing, Hawaii, Bahamas,
Dubai (can you tell I watch the travel channel :p) and I plain on wearing the cutest sundresses I can find. Lol I see light skin girls out all the time and I'll be darn if I'm hiding in the shade while they have all the fun! No way!

Maybe one day when your old and gray and light skinned you'll realized the fun you missed out on because you were constantly thinking about your skin and how to avoid the sun. LOL!

You can still lighten while your on vacation.. I know a few people in Africa who bleach even though the weather is extremely hot and they are fair... I understand how you feel. I chose not to go back home this vacation so that I can continue to lighten. My face is a few shades lighter than my body and I don't want people to notice.lol
