When Tv is first turned on there is vertical pink/white/purple lines; no picture; but the sound works. This is the same for all inputs. After a few minutes the picture will come on and the TV works. I called panasonic, they told me to reset TV by pushing the vol - on TV console while at same time pushing the action button on the remote until TV turned off. This didn't work. Any suggestions.

This is a hardware issue with the TV. I am not sure of what is specifically wrong with it, but it definitely sounds like a part is failing. Someone may know some more specifics on it, but I would start pricing out some newer TVs and begin to educate yourself on what has changed with TVs. In most cases paying someone to fix it (even if it's just a lamp issue, which I doubt) will cost $400 or more.

That's what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something simple and easy. Thanks for your input.
