92 Honda Civic LX 4 cyn.

Intermittent problem driving my crazy.

It first started with driving someplace, then coming back to car and the car would not start. After cranking and cranking I could wait for 45 min to an hour and then it would start. This happened on and off for quite sometime. Then it got where the car would not start at all, no matter how long it set. I found the fuel pump was not energizing. The first relay of the main relay would pull but not the second one. I jumped across the second relay and the fuel pump worked, so I bought a new main relay. Bad decision. Worked great first time I plugged in the new relay, then after a couple of starts and running around town the problem was back. My next thought was the ECU. Checked the cabling from main relay to ECU for continuity and all check fine.
Sprayed contacts of ECU with WD40 and plugged the cables back in. Cranked right up and is running fine. Just waiting for the most inopportune time that it happens again.
Any ideals will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

After cleaning the main ECM ground, located on the thermostat housing, I would run the K-Test on the ECM. Be prepared to run it again, if the car doesn't start--it may indicate the ECM is failing. You may want to install a remanufactured ECM--look for a lifetime warranty. They go for around $275, depending on the specific model.

When the car doen't start, does the Check Engine Light stay on? If it does, the ECM is likely failing.

I don't recall if check engine light went off. Next time I will take note. Will clean the EMC ground. Sorry I don't know what is a K test? Do I get the K test now or wait until I have the problem again?
Thanks!

Will not crank this morning. Check engin light stays on, so I guess I need a ECM. Shoot! Just my luck.
