View Full Version : I've had itchy red bumps on my face for months, they come and go with my period

I've been getting itchy red bumps on my face for about 6 months now. They are kind of hard, single red bumps. They look like bug bites almost, but I only get them on my left cheek and my forehead. If I scratch them a very little amount of clear liquid comes out, and then they scab and start to get better. They tend to get worse when I'm ovulating/menstruating, and go away almost completely when I'm not. Any ideas?

Could be connected to your hormone levels..

You could ask your doctor when you are due your period,so he/she can see the bumps as they appear.

I have the same problem!! It started happening to me a few years ago out of nowhere! The itchy bumps don't occur at all while I am pregnant (which has been twice), but a few most post delivery they are back in full force! I am always trying to figure out a pattern and have seen many dermatologists to no avail. I started wondering yesterday if they were triggered during ovulation and menstration so I was floored to see you with the same question! It's absolutely miserable living with this! My face looks like I have chicken pox practically, so embaressing! They seem to flare up at night and it drives me crazy! They start as little red bumps that itch like crazy. They then turn to scabs and clear fluid sometimes comes out. Once the clear fluid comes out they get better almost instantly. It's probably the fluid that our bodies produce to fight infections. If anyone has any idea what this is or how to cure it, I would LOVE to get an answer! Thanks so much

I am not sure it has anything to do with menstration. I have the same thing and I am a male. I too have tried to find a pattern but there is none. It's just random. Itch like crazy, especially at night, then turn into scabs. Has been going on for almost a year now. I have a few friends that are having the same problem. If anyone knows or has an idea please email me at [email protected]
Thanks!

I had a similar thing that seemed to get much better with HC Canesten - not great to use long term as the hydrocortisone thins the skin. Since I've stopped using it, the bumps are coming back a little, but at least it might help diagnose the problem... Good luck, I know how miserable it can be :-)

I have the identical problem and only happens around my period, otherwise my skin is pretty nice and clear! Did you ever find out exactly what it's called? Doctors are clueless! Makes me soooo mad! Thanks for your help!
