On filling a bath tub in our 13 year old home, after the tub was about 2/3 full there was noted to be quite a bit of blue granular material in the water. Did not disolve in water and was very fine but a lot was present. Drained the tub and repeated and same thing.

I'm going to try another tub; if it has the same thing, any ideas. I thought dip tubes were white fragments.

If only happens with this tub, any thoughts?
Our pipes are copper, have a hot water recirculating pump and an electric and gas water heater "piggy Backed".

Hey Dave, Did the blue stuff come out of the hot or cold side? Was it the same on the other tub? Has there been any work done on the city mains lately? Regards, Tom

Have you flushed the heater to find out?
For long life and fewer troubles you should keep your heater clear of mineral build-up by flushing on a regular schedule. Let me show you how. Attach a hose to the boiler drain at the bottom of the tank. With the pressure on, open the boiler drain and let it run until the water runs clear. You will see a spurt of red,(rust) followed by white grains,(lime or calcium carbonate) I have no idea what the blue stuff could be but the heater's the place to start. This shouldn't take more then a few minutes. Do this monthly to keep it clear. Now flush out your hot water lines on ALL fixtures. Now pull each aerator and clean the screens. Be sure you put them back togather the same way you took them out. Don't forget to flush it out every month. Your heater will thank you for it. Good luck and let me know, Tom
