My 16 year old granddaughter lives with me & my husband; her mother has physical custody. She has an illness that requires medication. Her mother is threatening to stop purchasing her medication. Can she do that?

Why, does her religion not allow the medication ?

Why does the girl live with you if mom has the custody ?

Does mom pay you some support for her living there.

And again what type of medication may be an issue.

In the end, she can stop if she wants to, and you may have to take action going to children and family services or pay for it yourself. Allowing the child to live with you also takes on a lot of the responsibility

Do you at least have some form of court ordered guardianship of the child ? If not then your situation could turn deadly if you don't have it. There is so much you can't do for the child if you don't have it.
