My former tenant absconded owing me a lot of rent money as well as all the bills which I had to continue paying. The problem is that the flat she was renting is here in the UK and she is now back in Quebec. Anyone know how I go about getting the rent money for the time in which she lived in my flat rent and bill free for several months?

Retain an Attorney where she now lives. In some areas collection agencies will also work for individuals.

She put down an address on her tenancy contract. I checked it out but only after she stopped paying. Although real, it looks more like a storage unit than somewhere to live although I can't be certain. Is there anyway I can carry out a search on her name before employing a debt collection attorney?

A former tenant of mine absconded without paying a significant amount of rent money.

She has left no forwarding address but I did keep a record of her bank details when she made her first and only payment.

I know she's back in Canada and probably Montreal, but I don't know which part of Montreal. From what I understand the first part of her account which is 091208 should reveal the area. Can anyone help? Does anyone know of any website which lists the codes against the areas?

Call the bank and ask the meaning of the routing code.

I don't know why you need the area. If you know she's in Canada have someone locate her. I don't think the bank details will help you locate her.
