I have an existing drain that runs from my house to the sewer somewhere in the back of my house. I am putting in a new drain for my washing machine which at some point I will need to tie into the existing drain.
The existing drain is 3 or 4 inches in diameter and is buried 3 feet underground. How do I tie into it.

Scroll down to post #28 and work your way forward from there. It shows, with pictures how to do exactly the job you are asking about. You will need to click on the additional pages at the bottom to view the entire job, including the result.
Mechanickid did a great job, but was unable to locate a cast iron no hub wye fitting (you would need a 4"x2"no hub cast iron wye (or 3"x3"))... you need to locate the cast iron no hub wye at a local plumbing supply company.
Check the thread out and then pop back and let us know what you think and if you have any more questions... O.K.?
Finally, how do you plan on VENTING The washing machine... hmmm..?
