I have a Harbor Breeze fan w/ remote in my living room. After installation, it worked great for about a year. After winter, I switched the fan so that it would reverse flow and push the air down. When I went to start it about a month later, the fan did not work. The light still works, but the fan will not operate. In addition, the remote will not operate the light or fan. I have tries all sorts of things to get the fan working. I switched the fan back to move in the opposite direction. I have tried using the pull string. I replaced batteries in the remote. I can’t figure out what happened. Is the fan motor bad? Is the remote bad?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

IS the LED coming on in the remote? Either the remote or the receiver is bad, it is usually the receiver.

I installed a Harbor Breeze remote controlled fan last September. It worked fine for about three weeks then just stopped. I'm guessing it's the receiver because when I disconnected it and wired directly to the switch, it did work. If it is the receiver, where would I find a replacement and would I have to purchase a new remote with it?

Yes you just buy a few remote/receiver kit and wire it in place of the old one.

Yes, led light on the remote lights up. In fact it's about the only thing that works. Thanks for the help ceilingfanrepair. A problem with the receiver did not even cross my mind. I will have to investigate where to get a remote/receiver kit. Would you recommend the replacement for a homeowner.

Yes it's very easy, or you can just wire the fan without the receiver.
