I live in the state of Va. I have custody of an eight yr. old girl and a four yr. old boy. The girl (I prefer to refer to her as my daughter for this is how she feels to me) was just an infant when I obtained custody. Three yrs. Ago her half brother was handed over to me at the age of 16 months. I was advised then by DSS that I would need to make provisions for them to have a separate bedroom. My daughter was already five by the time her brother came and I was told that was the age preferred or recommended by them for separate rooms. My daughter as the oldest truly appreciated the privacy and often found sanctuary from her brothers terrible two's stage in her own room. Her brother also seemed to sleep much better at night since sissy could stay up later than what his bedtime was scheduled for. The three of us have really benefited from this requirement.
