Hi,

I got a B1 visa in June 2009 which is valid for 10 good years.

My husband moved to US on an L1 visa. I want to move with him as his company is ready to assist me with a L2 visa.

My company is also ready to transfer me to our US office.

So, If I apply for an L2 visa, will my B1 visa still be valid so that I can go and work there for a year or so.

Thanks,

Akanksha

You may have both but you can use only one at a time.

Akansha - On a B1 VISA you can't work in US for a year. You can't even stay for 1 year in US on B1 VISA. That's why you will need your L2 VISA. However let me tell you that even on L2 VISA you are not allowed to work. You will need to file EAD card i.e. Employment AUthorization from USCIS & once you have received your EAD card you are allowed to work. Please don't risk working in US & earning dollar salary on B1. Though its possible but it's a big risk for your long term stay in US. Good luck
