What about detox?

Your liver already does a wonderful job of detoxing. You can give it a hand by cutting out sugar, fried food and junk for a couple of days and eating more fruit and veg instead.

Shakes are best used to add extra protein to an athlete's diet.

Hi,
I have a lot of good info to give you but what are you hoping to achieve. Is it for weight loss, energy, just overall good health? What are you hoping to detox from? The more info you provide, the better the reply I can give you.

I will say that a detox of your body for many reasons is not a bad thing,

Butif you want to lose weight ( this is in weight loss area) Then you need to exercise, and eat good balanced meals.

Hi,
I want to recommend a book I love. It's called The Juiceman's Power of Juicing by Jay Kordich. I juice 5 mornings a week. (Well, I change it up with some protein shakes so my routine isn't so boring) This book is loaded with recipes for different things you need. There are recipes for skin, hair, detox, weight loss etc. These fresh juices give amazing energy and make your skin really nice, hair shiny and you feel great! I never get sick. The last time I had a cold was maybe 3 years ago... You can find this book at the library too.

This is my favorite juice recipe. Surprisingly you won't stink from the garlic (probably because of the parsley) and it is a super detoxer and it tastes good. There are yummier recipes in the book if this one sounds gross to you.

Detox
6 carrots
2 stalks of celery
Handful of parsley
2 cloves of garlic
You can add an apple too.

Also try...

For beautiful skin
4 apricots
1 (3 oz) bunch of grapes with stems
1 pear

Regarding the protein shake, go to the health food store and speak with their onsite nutritionist to get the right shake for you. The fruit and veggie juices are great for supercharging your system with vitamins and nutrients and aiding your body in repairing and healing itself. The protein shakes are packed with vitamins and help to suppress your appetite and curb sugar cravings. Plus they give you energy.
