Hello,
Basically I have borrowed my mates laptop, and for some reason IE8, Firefox and Safari have stopped working comes up with "cannot display webpage"
I have checked all internet options which seems fine(in comparison to my desktop pc), have reset all internet options. Tried with firewall turned off and on.
The strange thing is, is that I am currently using this laptops Real Player browser to write this post, which also uses the same internet options settings.
Have not scanned for a virus as I need to download some free software(any suggestions)
Laptop is using Vista 32bit on service pack 2.

Any help would be excellent, as I would like to give my mates laptop back working

Cheers:)

Try scanning with MalwareBytes

Malwarebytes.org (http://www.malwarebytes.org)

Click the blue button on the left (the free version). Be sure and update the definitions before you scan. If MalwareBytes can't be updated from the computer before scanning, download the definitions from this link:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://malwarebytes.gt500.org/)

Tried this, but everything found to be OK. Switched to wired connection, to no avail. Downloaded to AV software to but nothing major found. Any other ideas?

Cheers

Check to be sure that some Internet Security Suite isn't preventing you from connecting. Since you are getting through using "Real Player" it almost has to be software related. Turn off all Internet Security, including Windows Firewall, and see if you can connect.
