When one toilet finishes refilling, the toilet in the next bathroom starts running. They are back to back in separate bathrooms. What might cause this?

Hi Greyhound...

Sounds like the washer at the fill valve of the defective toilet has some sediment caught under it and may need to be cleaned.

Shut off the water supply to the fill valve and then PUSH down on the top part of the fill valve while rotating 90 degrees counterclockwise... should disengage. Remove the black washer, and pulse the water supply to clear of any sediment in the line. Clean the washer and replace, reverse steps and see how you did.

If that didn't work then you will be best to get a replacement washer and try again.

If your fill valve is different or has screws let us know...

Another thing you might wish to check is the tank level. It should be 1/2
Beneath the white overflow tube.
I want you to try something for me. Take the lid off the toilet in the next bathroom. Now turn on and off the cold water faucet in the lavatory real quick while watching the float. Did it bob up and down? Let me know, Tom
