Hello,

My band has recently decided that we want to make it into a business.

It only has two members, and we have a friend who books shows. Ideally, we'd like to make a steady profit from the band, and be able to pay our friend for booking shows, and possibly hire more people to work for us in the future.

As a start, we have to play more paying gigs to be able to split the profit, half for us, and half to whoever books the show.

But we're wondering if anyone has other ideas on how to make some profit, and some small jobs for people to be apart of it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated of course.

Really it depends on what market you are going after. Are you going to be the regular band and have a 6-12 mo contract or more for regular shows? Or are you doing kids birthday parties?
Are you travelling and performing at motorcycle rallies, or other traveling events?
How about just setting up and handing out fliers with your bands name on them and selling your music online. YOu set up on the park or other public place and jam for people walking by.

Maybe the band isn't the business, but the band sells something else that goes along with the performance atmosphere, like shirts, or hats, or other logoed material.
