I live in Michigan and am currently in violation of probation for an OWI I received in 2008. I did not have to money to pay my fines or even a phone to call the court to request a meeting with my officer to discuss how to handle it. I lost literally everything due to the OWI, even the place I lived. I have not been in any trouble since. I want to make my fines payment in full. I know that I will be in trouble for violating but I was just wondering what my options were. I have a job now and I am fine with paying extra fines. But I am worried that if I get sentenced to jail time I will loose my job. And then be in the same boat again not being able to afford to pay my extra fines. I have no way to seek other work or even get to a job, as my job right now is with my room mate who drives me to and from work. Is there any way I can go about not getting jail time?

I don't know. The longer you DON'T report, the higher the odds are you WILL do jail time.

You're going to have a hearing in front of the judge. If you can convince him that it's better for you NOT to go to jail, he won't send you there. If you CAN'T, he will. If you're inarticulate, you're going to need a representative speaking on your behalf. Lawyers are good at that.

Well excon he is homeless from what I got, does not even have a friend with a cell phone. So perhaps he can use the time in jail to not go hungry and have a place to stay.

I am sorry, your reasons are the reasons people get sent to jail, You can't, because, >>>>>> sorry the PO and the judge could care less why you did not, just that you didn't.

You contact the PO ifyou have to walk there, perhaps ask to use a strangers cell phone.
