It was a website that had a directory similar to ours... but after clicking on it, it then went one at a time through unique websites that were dedicated to the subject that was clicked on.

It was in some ways better than Google as it specialized in unique/obscure - but very relevant - websites.

I'm wondering if anyone else is doing similar nowadays - but heck, I don't even know what to call it... so am striking out in googling for something like it...

Does anyone know of a website that tries to do something like this?

Aah shoot. I typed too fast. It was not FreeFind.com that I meant... and dog-gonnit, now I can't remember the name of it... but I do know it's not in business anymore.

Based on the description, can anyone help jog my brain to remember what that site was called?

... and if there's other sites out there currently trying to do the same thing?

Do you mean something like Stumbleupon (http://www.stumbleupon.com/) ?

Exactly!. except that it was a website instead of something that needs installed.

I will, though, give stumbleupon a whirl. Looks interesting.
