My rudd ac is 2 years old. When I bought the house the squirrel cage was broken. I have replaced that. I can read schematics and was able to put everything back. The outside AC had a bad contactor. I was able to replace it. I have a Hunter Thermostat 44260. I was told this is not the greatest of thermostats. When I hook this up it does not turn on AC. It will turn on the AH but even when I shut it off the AH still runs in a slow mode. Is it possible the thermostat wiring is off somewhere? Please help, thanks.

Disconnect "R" wire from thermostat to see if fan operation is affected. Then, jumper "R", "G", and "Y" wires together to see if a/c runs correctly.

I removed r and got nothing. When I jumped them the air handler ran without being on. My AH also runs very slowly when not on, is this right or part of problem? Thx

If it is only 2 years old, warranty still applies. Too much DIY could compromise it. As this sounds rather unusual, the best advice I can offer is to call a pro.
