I have been bleading for about 4 weeks now the dr did a biopsy and the uerus came negative for cancer. He has given the choice to do a D&C or take the pill he said the pill carries risk at my age, I am 47. Do I really need a D&C? Help

You poor thing! You must be going out of your mind! I work with a woman who is 44 and she had the D&C done about a year ago. She absolutely has NO REGRETS and is thrilled she had it done. Like you, she would bleed all the time. Do all your research and if your Dr. gave you the o.k. maybe it is a good idea? In the end do what YOU want to do and what your instincts tell you. You know your body better than anyone. In answer to your question do you need it? You should ask your Dr. of the risk of that much blood loss. In your shoes I would ABSOLUTELY do it

I strongly advise against the pill because yes, at our age it is VERY risky. However, I believe that at any age it is risky. Good luck!

Wow that must be horrible for you, I'm glad the tests came back negative though, must have been a relief.

My mother is nearly 50 and hasn't gone thorugh menopause yet, she had Implanon inserted because of both irregular periods, and a 6 year old son ;)
She hasn't had a period in 4 years now, she loves it.

It was not recommended she take the pill either due to risks but apparently implanon is a lot safer, of coarse you would have to discuss it with your doctor.

p.s. I'm 23 and I also have implanon, I haven't had a period for 6 months, it's heaven!
