When I was 13 or 14 my sister and I watched a movie on TV with our Uncle. He passed away in Jan. 1964. I would love to know what movie it was. All I know is some of what happened in the movie.
This husband left his home, I think to go get a newspaper. When he didn't return his wife call the police and they search the community. All they found was his pocket watch. The police presumed that he was killed but no body ever showed up.
Year later his wife is in the living room on Christmas with his now grown children. He is looking in the window as his wife gives her oldest son his pocket watch. The husband watches for a few minutes then turns and walks down the sidewalk and never tells them he is alive.
My sister and I cried like babies. My uncle said it was sad. I know it is not a musical because my uncle hated musicals and would have turned it off. It had to be before Jan. 1964. I do not think it was a TV movie. But an old movies shown on TV. It was black and white.
I would love to see this movie one more time.
Thanks

Sorry but that is not the movie. At the end of It's A Wonderful Life the family is all together. At the end of the movie I need a name to the man walks down the sidewalk and never lets his family know he is alive. That was the end of the movie you see him walking down the sidewalk.
Thanks for you answer though.

Thank you so much. After reading about this movie online I really believe this is the movie I was talking about. Now if only I can find a copy which seems to be nearly impossible.
Would you have any idea of where I might obtain a copy of this movie?
Thanks again, you have made my day.
