Hello,

I've been searching for verses that I could read to myself each morning to help with my anxiety.

I'd love a prayer that is short and sweet, that includes being free from anxiety and having protection from God as I go about my day.

Any suggestions would be more than appreciated.

The Serenity prayer was around long before AA. Originated in 1934 I believe. Goes like this...
God, grant me the serenity
To eccept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
And wisdom to know the difference

It's a good one. I always continue with unrehearsed words. I feel that without some personalization, these words would become meaningless in time.
Hope this was of some help.

Hi, Green Elephant!

How about the "Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi", too? It's not all that short, but it does have a lot of meaning.

Thanks!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury,pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

Here are some verses that might be helpful too
Romans 12:12 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
JAM 1:2 Count it joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.

Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs
With Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also
Share in his glory.

1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that
You may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the
Glory that will be revealed in us.

2CO 1:7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you
Share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

2 CO 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more
And more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away,
Yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal
Glory that far outweighs them all.

18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what
Is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

5:14 For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died
For all, and therefore all died.

1 PE 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die
To sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

It is interesting that you have a crow for an profile picture. Crows/ravens are known as messengers from the void (Native American). Chances are you are on a spiritual path right now and you are looking for answers/prayers to help you block anxiety.

How bad is your anxiety? Do you have attacks? Are for no reason? I am asking this because I know someone that is suffering from anxiety attacks... sometimes for no reason. You need to know why you are having anxiety, medicate it if needed and find other ways of dealing with it. Prayer is wonderful - and some really good ones here I think I might use too :). Meditation is very relaxing and beneficial for health.
