I started dating an old girlfriend about three months ago . She broke up with her last boyfriend he can't seem to take no for an answer, two months ago he forceably took her in his car against her will and took her for a six hour drive begging her to come back she felt very threatned . She went to the police and got an order of protection from the courts, she did not renew it after the two months he said he would leave her alone she told him in court that she moved on with her life and doesn't want him in it,she is also afraid of him as he is big and intimadateing,for the two years they went out he bullied her throughout the relationship. She went with the police to pick up her stuff from his house and he says how sorry he is and that he loves her , she said stay out of my life and if you stalk me I'll get another order of protection, he has a city job and does not want the order of protection again he is afraid of being fired. He does not know that she is in a relationship with me, should she have told him about us ? I told her that it was none of his business and that she should just keep NO CONTACT with him and if he bothers her or stalks her to get the order of protection. Would it have helped the situation if she told him she was in a relationship with me

There's no need to mention you. It might get him even more angry. You have nothing to do with their old relationship. So there's no reason to mesh both relationships together.

She should just continue with no contact and if he persists, then just go to the police again to renew the restraining order. If he wants to keep risking his job over this girl, then that's his problem. There's no need to feel bad about getting that court order.
