Hello, I am new to the site and thought I would ask a question about weight loss. 5 years ago I was 5"5 at 118 lbs. Marriage and two kids later and being a stay at home mom, I am 5"5 at 180 lbs. I can loose weight really fast but then if I don't stick to my tiring diet and work out schedule I can gain everything back in two weeks! My metabolism is shot... I tried different programs but I can't stick to anything and if I do I get results but then one bad meal and I gain 0.5 lbs. I have made enough excuses for myself... I want to do something now... but where do I start?

I do have great support though... my husband is encouraging, supportive, sympathetic, understanding and can give me a kick in the butt when I lag. He say's that I lack motivation... that I can't stick to anything and that is my problem. He loves me, he always makes me feel attractive and I try to ignore my insecurities in the bedroom. My sister and I are in the same boat and decided to make it a supportive but competitive race on losing weight. I want my energy back, I want to be light on my feet again and I want to feel good for me and look the best I can on my terms... to me that is 60 lbs that needs to come off.

Anyone, can anyone share their success stories and their problems in weight loss.

What type of diets do you use, if you are not eating a balance meal and merely eating properly. Plus stay active and work out.

But yes you will gain a bit over holidays and have to work on it again. But if you gain 1/2 a lb over one meal what size meal are you eating

The meal is hand (palm only) sized portions... if I eat good for a while I am good but I ALWAYS fall off the wagon! Yeah, the 0.5 lb gain is not portioned and very rich food (European). I can loose 20 - 30 pounds in one month but gain it back just as fast... I don't know how to keep on and stay on and if I will be dealing with this the rest of my life and I am only 27! There is no friggen way I will ever hit the 200's!

I am not on any particular diet... I try not to go over 1,200 calories but won't kill myself if I go over to 1,500. I try to eat a lot of vegetables... and follow the points on Weight Watchers.

Mistique,

Have you heard of Body for Life? It is not another diet book, but a great book about changing your body for life and not to just lose 10-30-60 pounds then go back to your old patterns. It really helped me learn how to choose proper foods and proportions and helped me not feel guilty if I got weak and broke the pattern. It focuses on changing your whole lookout on food and exercise and it was just overall very empowering. I did so well on it until I returned home, and I started making excuses for myself, but I am now looking to return to it... as I had been so happy and had gone from a size 12 to a size 6 over a 5 month period and I really had every intention to stick to it. I got off track because my whole life was up heaved, but if you have such a supportive husband then possibly he can join you in this experience and you can both become dedicated to it.. =) best wishes!

That's so funny! My hubby does need to loose a bit (just the belly)... I will definitely look into body for life... I would seriously cry if I could get back in my size 5 in 5-6 months! Thank you very much :)
