This is a long process that generally requires a good chunk of a chapter to explain and would therefore be very difficult to try to explain from scratch in a forum situation like this. It's difficult for us to just be a textbook.

Have you made some attempt at the problem? If so, be sure to post your questions. If you're lost, that's a little more difficult. I can give you a link to some info but I don't know if it'll be an improvement over your textbook:
Principles of Accounting Chapter 20 (http://www.principlesofaccounting.com/chapter%2020.htm)

A problem like this needs broken down into parts. Go do some reading and see if you can figure any of this out on your own, even if just a little.
