Hi

This is my first post on here

We have a Honda Civic Sports SE 2008 Car and are having strange problems with our battery.

On two occasions recently the battery went flat. We had been driving and on each occasion stopped for about 5 min, turned engine off and kept radio on. When trying to restart the car, nothing happened. We called the AA who said we had a flat battery. Each time Honda garage checked the battery afterwards and said nothing wrong with it. After the more recent case two days ago they said they would book it in to check if there may be some underlying problem.

This morning again it happened. I turned the engine on, put the blowers on to clear condensation from inside the windscreen. There did not seem to be much power from the blowers, so after 5 minutes I turned engine off and went and got a cloth to clear the windscren from the house. When I returned I could not start the car. AA called out again who said it was a flat battery again.

The car is with HONDA now. A mechanic phoned me this evening and said that even with the key in the ignition and radio on the battery could go flat if the radio was on.! Surely this is not right?

Anyone had similar experiences?

Remove and fully charge the battery; then, check the alternator:
